2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible Review

Since December 2012, the 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible is there in the market that is offering a reasonable price and like vans and squarebacks it has a lower repair and running costs. The 2013 Volkswagen Beetle convertible has now a stylish exterior and updated interior with a range of powertrains making it a priority for its fans.

Trim levels, Bodywork and Features

The 2013 Volkswagen Beetle convertible comes with a soft top and seats for four passengers. The convertible comes in three trim levels the base 2.5L, Diesel Powered TDI and a Performance version Turbo.

Standard features of the base model are 17” alloy wheel, heated mirrors, keyless entry, heated windshield washer nozzle, rear spoiler, air conditioning, powered soft top, heated and height adjustable front seats, leatherette upholstery, split folding rear seats, cruise control, tilt and telescoping leather wrapped steering wheel, eight speaker sound system paired with CD player, auxiliary audio jack, audio connectivity, Bluetooth phone and iPod interface. The two other trim levels comes standard with all the features of the base model as well as with a different powertrains and a range of high tech standard features including fog lights, sports seats, touch screens, sports tuned suspension, trip computer, navigation and 18 inch alloy wheels.

Powertrains and performance

The base 2.5 liter 5 cylinder engine pumps out 170 horsepower and a torque of 177 lb ft and is mated with a standard six speed automatic transmission. The EPA rated fuel economy is 21/27 mpg city/highway and acceleration from 0-60 mph is 9.0 seconds.

The 2.0 liter Turbo diesel generates 140 horsepower and 236 lb ft torque, the engine is mated with standard six speed manual transmission whereas six speed automatic is optional. EPA fuel economy is 28/41 mpg city/highway.

The 2.0 liter 4 cylinder Turbocharged makes 200 horsepower and 207 lb ft torque with same Turbo diesel transmission options. The EPA fuel economy is 21 city and 30 highway with an acceleration from 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds.

Safety

Standard safety features of the model are antilock disc brakes, head, front, side airbags, roll bars behind rear seats, stability and traction control.

Price and Rivals

The price range of the 2013 Volkswagen Beetle convertible is $24,995-$27,895. Key rivals of the model are Mini Cooper convertible, Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder, Fiat 500C, Ford Mustang V6 convertible and Chrysler 200 convertible.
